Google Accessability, for blinds or machines?

Although Google's efforts to improve site ranking due to accessability rankings may help blinds, it may also help the computers (quite blind) to read more of optimized pages.

An "alt=" Tag is for sure easier to read than doing Text-Recognition on pictures.
